The latest independent evaluation of our work at Te Uru Amokura | Springboard Trust measures the social value and impact of our programmes aimed at developing the strategic leadership capability of school leaders in Aotearoa New Zealand. The report highlights positive long-term impacts for school leaders and teachers resulting in improved academic achievement for ākonga.
The GoodMeasure Renewal Report, conducted by ImpactLab and commissioned by Te Uru Amokura | Springboard Trust, analysed the overall impact of our programmes based on school leaders who learned with us in 2023. It assessed the benefits to participants of the programmes, as well as longer-term societal changes that are influenced by participants, including long-term student outcomes.
The report highlights a significant Social Return on Investment (SROI) of $5.70 for every dollar invested, with a total social value of $8,918,138 generated in 2023. That year, we supported 119 principals and 133 senior/middle-tier leaders, indirectly benefiting 38,746 students.
Key contributing outcomes to this phenomenal social return were:
· Improved mental health for school leaders
· Increased specialised skills for school leaders
· Increased teacher satisfaction and motivation
· Improved teacher efficacy
· Increased student engagement
· Increased academic achievement
This latest SROI measure represents a 39% increase in SROI from our last measure in 2020 and underscores our ongoing efforts to ensure every dollar invested in Te Uru Amokura | Springboard Trust delivers maximum benefit for strong, strategic school leadership, effective teaching and learning and thriving tamariki mokopuna.
The following initiatives have contributed to this significant strengthening of our SROI:
1. Blended Delivery Model: Enhanced cost efficiency, reducing operating costs by 39%.
2. Improved Data Collection: Better reporting and a detailed theory of change.
3. Focus on Specialised Skills: More accurate reflection of the benefits of the programmes and services.
We are delighted that ImpactLab’s rigorous methodology has reaffirmed and quantified the ongoing high social return on investment from our programmes. We continue to look for ways to sustain and amplify our impact strengthening educational leadership and improving student outcomes in Aotearoa New Zealand.
